Sometimes, AVCHD (MTS) files that are imported in Premiere Pro CC import without audio. The files are imported as video-only. You might also get an error stating "This File has no Audio and Video Stream" while re-linking files with AVCHD .mts formats.

This issue affects Premiere Pro CC 2015.3 (versions 10.3 and 10.4) and Premiere Pro CC 2017 (version 11.0).

Solution 1: Clean Media Cache files
Delete all the files from "Media Cache" and "Media Cache Files" folders. The location of these folders can be found under Preferences > Media.

Note: By default, Media Cache Files and the Media Cache Database folders are stored in these locations:

Mac: /Users//Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common
Windows: \Users\\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Common

Solution 2: Rename the Media Cache folder
Navigate to the Media Cache location and rename the folders to Media Cache Files_OLD and Media Cache_OLD respectively.

Solution 3: Move Media Cache to a different location
Change the location of Media Cache folders to elsewhere on your machine.

Solution 4: The Ultimate solution-Convert MTS to Premiere friendly formats with a professional third party program.

Brorsoft MTS Converter for Mac is highly recommended here. With it, you not only can encode MTS videos to Premiere supported MPEG-2 format, but also can convert MTS files to popular video format like MOV, AVI, WMV, MP4, FLV, etc. For Windows user, please get MTS/M2TS Converter. Download the program and you can edit MTS in Adobe Premiere Pro smoothly as you wish.

1: Run the MTS to Premiere Pro converter and click the Add Files button to import the MTS videos to be converted.

2: Go to “Format” drop-down bar to select a proper video format. To edit AVCHD videos in Adobe Premiere, you can choose Adobe Premiere/Sony Vegas > MPEG-2 (*.mpg) as output format.

3: Tap the big Convert button to start MTS to Adobe Premiere Pro conversion.

Additional Tips:

1. Adjust audio and video settings – The Mac MTS to Premiere Pro Converter enables users to adjust audio and video settings before transcoding AVCHD files to MPEG-2. Click “Settings” button, then you will enter the following interface, on which you are allowed to customize size, bit rate, frame rate, sample rate, and audio channel to your required ones.

2. Basic video editing (optional)– This Mac MTS converter enjoys a built-in video editor, so you can touch up the video with basic video editing functions. The supported video editing operations are: Trimming, cropping, appending artistic visual effects, adding watermarks and load subtitles to the videos. Just note that this step is skippable if you want to keep the original video effects.
